R & D internship – Food Technology

Are you a food enthusiast that wants to disrupt the food industry with us? Help us release the amazing creamy fat ingredients from sunflower seeds and provide creaminess to our future-proof, plant-based diets!

About the internship

We are looking for a food technology intern, to assist in our research on the process development of the unique oil droplets (Oleosomes) that make our ingredients creamy. In this position you will be responsible for planning and execution of experiments regarding the process optimization in relation to the product properties of our functional fat ingredients. You will help us answer questions like: How do we make this cream as tasty as possible? And what analysis techniques can we use to prove this? Then if you have the passion to accelerate the plant-based transition with science and innovation: TTM is your company!

Start date: January-March 2024

  • Duration: 5- 6 months
  • Location: Wageningen
  • Internship allowance of € 400,- gross per month

Requirements & essential skills

  • Studying MSc Food Technology, Biochemistry or comparable
  • Fluent in English; both oral and written
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Creative, curious, meticulous & flexible
  • You are available for 5 or 6 months from January/March 2024
  • You must be enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student (University of Applied Sciences (HBO)/University (WO))

So what does Time Travelling Milkman do exactly?

We are an early-stage start-up producing and selling creamy fat ingredients for the B2B plant-based market. Using European seeds and water, we harvest the ‘creamy treasures’ that seeds have been hiding for a long time; the natural fat droplets called Oleosomes. We research the extraction process, of these fat droplets into creamy ingredients and develop plant-based formulations in close collaboration with our customers and partners. With a small team of science driven enthusiasts we are on a mission to provide local, sustainable, and healthy fat ingredients for the improvement of the mouthfeel and nutrition of plant-based products like ice cream, cream cheese and yoghurt.

We are an early-stage start-up which produces and sells creamy fat ingredients for dairy alternatives.  Using European seeds and water, we harvest the ‘creamy treasures’ that seeds have been hiding for a long time; natural fat droplets and convert them with our processing magic into creamy ingredients. And with these ingredients, we enthusiastically develop plant-based formulations in close collaboration with our customers and partners. With a small team of science driven enthusiasts we are on a mission to provide local, sustainable, and healthy fat ingredients for the improvement of the taste experience and nutrition of plant-based products.

We are looking for an intern to assist us in business development, sales & marketing with activities like:

  • Vegan dairy market scoping and continuously refining our target market
  • Communicating how awesome our “natural fat droplets” are, especially in dairy alternatives: vegan cooking cream, ice cream, cream cheese, yoghurt and other yummy food!
  • Social media presence and marketing, closely collaborating with the product development department to create a sustainable and positive impact
  • Finding the pains & gains of our customers through customer interviews
  • Assisting with sales and connecting the dots for business development opportunities

With this you will gain experience in an international environment in commercial activities. In this varied role you will learn to navigate in a fast-paced environment and understand market dynamics around a start-up in the vegan food-world. But most of all you will get the opportunity to taste super creamy dairy alternatives produced in our lab and join our bright and funny team!

  • You are pursuing a career in business development, sales, marketing or comparable
  • You must be enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student (University of Applied Sciences (HBO)/University (WO))
  • You are completely fluent in English, oral and written
  • You are creative, curious & meticulous
  • You have good interpersonal skills
